Just when we thought that the world of television technology was lacking new ground breaking innovations along comes LG unveiling their new line of revolutionary borderless HDTVs. During IFA 2009 the company showed the SL9000 and the SL8000 for the first time. So what is this new borderless HDTV nonsense?
Basically, this sets are one of the sleekest sets ever seen to date. They way they are designed allowed the company to basically hide the frame giving the product the “borderless look “ that they have without affecting image quality negatively. In fact, the screen is supposed to help reduce glare without the need of a real frame around the sides and top of the screen although, it is worth mentioning that not all the screen is viewable, there is actually a non viewable area around the image which is covered in a special film and that is the one that is the one that helps when it coms to reducing glare on the screen. A flatter frame if you would like to call it that way.
In other words, this sets are designed to have top looks without compromising the slightest bit of image quality. Not only are the lateral dimensions on these sets are reduced, this sets are super slim further reducing the overall size and freeing all so needed room space in you home. Image sizes on this sets range from 32-47 inches and are able to project images at up to 200Hz to help reduced the unwanted artifacts that are common when watching sports or other fast action material. The sad news is that they have not yet been released in to the market expect the SL8000 and SL9000 line of HDTVs to be a real bang in the HDTV market in the months that follow their release.
