LCD HDTV Televisions Are the Best HDTV Sets for Gaming

For those of you that really enjoy playing video games and are looking to buy a new HDTV set to get the most out of their gaming consoles, sets with LCD screens are the best HDTV sets for the task. These sets are not prone to image burn in as Plasma HDTV sets are and considering that many gamers spend a considerable amount of time using their Tv sets, they use less power. However, there are some things that you should keep in mind if you are are planning to buy a new LCD set for gaming purposes.

A good television set for gaming needs to have a good refresh rate.  Since quite a lot of video games have many fast action sequences a high refresh rate is a must for gaming although it doesn’t have to be as high as those that are needed to watch sports.

Your new set should have a decent contrast ration to be able to display the best possible image and needs to have very good blacks in order to get the most out of your gaming console. Either way it is possible to find many sets that easily fit these standards for under $600 if you want a decent sized screen. When it comes to resolution if you are very fond of details and graphics you should definitively go for a Full HD set. While most games are still not being made to fully support a 1080p resolution consoles like the Sony Play Station 3 are capable of displaying video games with a 1080p resolution so be prepared when the time comes when most video games for this console are optimized to use the 1080p standard. It is worth mentioning that if you own a PS3 and you want to use the integrated Blu-Ray Disc player to watch movies you should be very picky when it comes to the refresh rates of your LCD HDTV.

Depending on you play activity you may also pay close attention to how much power an HDTV set needs to operate since most gamers are notorious for leaving their games paused while they do other activities including sleeping. A set that consumes less power will end up being cheaper in the end. Always go for the television that used the less amount of watts without sacrificing quality. That way you will be less worried about your electric bill when you are attacking the baddies on the game.
